Frequently Asked QUESTIONS

Let’s see if we can answer some of the more common questions that come our way……….

Do you close after the summer season? ⛱

Yes, we do! Currently, we close up the museum for the Winter.

DO YOU HAVE OPENING DATES FOR 2024? 📅

YES!!

WE’RE OPEN EVERY DAY UNTIL SEPTEMBER

Don’t forget 10am - 4pm!

How much does it cost to get in? 🎫

ADMISSION PRICES - ADULTS £5.00 . CHILDREN - £2.50 .

CHILDREN UNDER 5 - FREE. Woohoo!

CAn i bring my dog? 🐕

Easy,…. yes!

how big is the museum? 📏

Ours is a small museum with a big name and even bigger ambitions. We refer to our museum as a ‘micro-museum’. Whilst the exhibition area isn’t very big (it fits into a disused public toilet) it is chock full of interactive displays and fascinating artifacts. Our expert team is always ready to engage with visitors too!

How long does it take to look AROUND?

Tough one to answer succinctly! How long is a piece of intestine? Visit times vary a lot depending on one or two things -

  1. 40 mins is probably a good average visit time if you do just one single lap of our exhibition space. But, if you engage with all our interactive displays, read all our fascinating facts, and chat with our experts along the way, an hour or longer will fly by and you won’t even notice!

  2. At times when we’re super busy the museum can become a bit one-way in terms of people flow, you may get swept along and feel you’ve missed some of the displays. If this happens to you, when you get to the end of the exhibition space, just walk around outside the museum and come back to the start so you can go round again and catch the bits you missed the first time around. You can do this as many times as you like for free on the same day you paid for admission!

Are there busy times that are best to avoid?

We’ve learned that our busiest times are when we first open at 11 am until lunchtime, and then again around 3pm until we close at 4pm. If you prefer a more relaxed museum experience we suggest working around those times. If you do arrive and we look super busy, why not head across to our free playground and mess about on the swings and slides for a while until things quieten down a bit….

Are you open at weekends? 📅

YES… HOORAY!!

Is the national poo museum ACCESSIBLE to wheelchairs? 🦽

Yes! We have a ramp at the exit end of our exhibition. We’ll guide you around that way to enter the building if you need a smooth drop in and out of our museum. Some of the spaces in the cubicle exhibits are a bit tight, but other than that visitors in wheelchairs will have the same hands-on experience as everyone else.

Do you have a visitor/public toilet? 🚽

Yes, we do!… And it’s not normal!!….. We’ll leave it there, except to say that you might want to use the toilet facilities whether you need to go or not!

What do visitors think of your museum?

The vast majority of our visitors really love our museum. One or two folks have said they think our museum is sh*t, but that’s okay by us! Probably the best way to get a good independent view of what people think about us is to head over to Trip Advisor.

Where does my entrance fee go?

Great question, and it’s only right you know! Your entrance fee pays for everything; - running costs, staff wages, repairs, and any new exhibits we might be building. Your entrance fee also helps us manage the gardens & grounds around the museum. We also manage the public toilet adjoining our museum, so your support helps us keep them nice and tidy too!

WHY DID YOU MAKE A POO MUSEUM? 🏛

Great question! We’re not entirely sure except to say it seemed like a really great idea at the time! We didn’t expect everyone to like the idea as much as they did so we felt duty bound to build The National Poo Museum!
